MyGeneLog

Understand your own genome, entirely on your own machine

MyGeneLog is a free, local-first desktop app that parses a VCF file or a 23andMe/AncestryDNA raw data export and matches it against published SNP-health research. Nothing is uploaded — analysis happens entirely on your machine.

FreeLocal-firstNo account required

Download from mygenelog.com. Drop in your genome file, browse the findings, and export a PDF report whenever you want — no account, no license key.

1. What it does

Drop in a VCF file or a 23andMe/AncestryDNA raw data export. MyGeneLog parses it locally and matches your genotypes against a reference dataset of published SNP-health associations, showing which findings apply to you — each one linked back to the underlying research.

2. Informational, not diagnostic

Every finding is framed as "published research associates this genotype with X" — never as a diagnosis, a predicted age of onset, or a medication recommendation. This is not a substitute for talking to a doctor or a genetic counselor about anything that matters to you.

3. Sensitive results stay hidden until you ask

Findings tied to a serious health condition — APOE/Alzheimer's risk, Factor V Leiden clotting risk, and similar — stay hidden behind an explicit "reveal" action. They never appear unprompted in a list, so you decide when, or if, you want to see them.

4. 100% local, with an optional reference-data update

Your genome file is parsed in memory and never uploaded — no accounts, no cloud storage of genetic data, no telemetry. MyGeneLog ships with a small built-in reference set so it works fully offline out of the box, and can optionally check mygenelog.com once a day (or on demand) for expanded research coverage — matching itself still happens entirely offline against whatever was last cached. Results can be exported as a styled PDF report.

Frequently asked questions

Does MyGeneLog upload my genetic data anywhere?+

No. Your genome file is parsed in memory on your machine and never uploaded. The only optional network request is a throttled check for updated reference research, which doesn't include your data.

Is this a substitute for genetic counseling or a diagnosis?+

No. Every finding is presented as what published research associates with a genotype — never as a diagnosis, a predicted outcome, or medical advice. Discuss anything that matters with a doctor or genetic counselor.

What file formats does it accept?+

A standard VCF file, or a raw data export from 23andMe or AncestryDNA.

Is MyGeneLog really free?+

Yes — full functionality, no account, no license key, and no purchase flow.
